Celebrate Quirky Alone Day & Review Of Bouquet (Competition Ended)

Woman Holding Bunches Bouquet Flowers Valentines
Celebrating me!
We all deserve to celebrate
who we are.
So Valentine's Day is coming up, or to many singles the dreaded day we are reminded that we are single.

But I say NO!

I will not be made to feel inadequate on this day of love, so 2 years ago I began celebrating something called :

Quirky Alone Day (or as my friends thought a day I simply made up - wide grin!), is an actual day designated to love, but not in the usual sense of the word, as often portrayed around Valentine's Day.

Quirky Alone Day is a day where singles unite as one in their celebration of self-love, taking ourselves out on dates, celebrating with other single girlfriends or male friends and for couples to relish this day for what it truly means.

International Quirkyalone Day is a do-it-yourself celebration of romance, friendship, and independent spirit. It's a celebration of all kinds of love: romantic, platonic, familial, and yes, self-love. International Quirkyalone Day is not anti-Valentine's Day. It's NOT a pity party for single people. It's an alternative--a feel-good alternative to the marketing barrage of Valentine's Day ~

If you are single it's a huge encouragement to see what possibilities are available to single people today. Just because you're single does not mean you need to date for the sake of dating, but that you're happy to be single but not opposed to being in a relationship either.

If you're in a couple it's a special day  for you to acknowledge your own individuality. Two halves do not make a whole, two whole people make a sublime and beautiful relationship.

On the Quirkyalone site online they help you to plan your own Quirky Alone Day. And some of the ideas they give are:

  • Throw a dinner party.
  • Buy yourself new underwear
  • Rearrange your furniture
  • Take a long walk without your cell phone
  • Explore a new part of town,
  • Organize a card-making party
  • Try a new recipe
  • Join or host a Quirkyalone party.
  • Buy yourself flowers or have them delivered to your home on Quirky Alone Day (Feb. 14th).

Last year I took myself out for the morning, had a lovely coffee with whipped cream  and toffee swirl on the top, had a lovely little cake, and then took a wonderful walk in the sun. I enjoyed quality time with me and it was great. This year as I'm sugar-free, I will do something similar, but bake myself something sugar-free for the day and maybe do some at-home dancin. Who knows? I will be spontaneous.

So as it's Quirky Alone Day soon, I wanted something lovely to give-away on my blog. Something for people who want to embrace their aloneness or individuality, so the lovely company were only too happy to join in on this unconventional celebratory day.

And they are giving the beautiful SPRING CHARM BOUQUET to one lucky winner at Kelly Martin Speaks.

I like Bunches. It's still a family run business which is not only bringing a smile to the people in the UK but also doing its part in ethically sourcing flowers.

The farms where they source their carnations follow a voluntary code called Florverde set up by the Colombian Flower Growers Trade Association. This great initiative intends to improve workers quality of life and makes sure growers meet certain environmental standards.

"Florverde farms use sustainable resources; aim to reduce their water consumption and air emissions, use organic fertilization methods and dispose of their waste using environmentally sound methods. None of our Colombian partners hire workers under the age of 18 and they are paid 20% more than the minimum wage." ~

Fair Flowers - Fair Plants

Bunches only works with producers and suppliers that are part of the Fair Flowers Fair Plants (FFP) initiative.
The FFP monitors ethical standards throughout the flower production cycle, reducing the impact on the environment and providing good working conditions. A large number of organisations within the flower industry, human rights groups and trade unions also support the FFP label. ~

Recyclable packaging

I loved the box my beautiful bouquet came in. The flowers fitted perfectly and there was no waste. This is because Bunches do not send their flowers in a 'one size fits all' box.  It had a really pretty design on the outside that was so lovely to receive. And as the boxes are  made with 100% recyclable materials, my box can be re-used or recycled.

My Review

Bouquet Of Flowers

My Spring Charms Bouquet (that can be bought here at a really reasonable price of  £22.99 including delivery), had one thing other bouquets I have received in the past did not have, the flowers had scent. I had found in the past that bouquets from other companies had no scent, so it was heaven to sniff in the beautiful fragrance of  roses and carnations.

Yellow and White Flowers

They came in a beautiful box and removing them was easy. The bouquet came with its own water reservoir to keep the flowers fresh in transit and also gave me time to do a few things around my flat before preparing them for display.

The colours of the Spring Charms Bouquet from Bunches were so feminine, so bright and colourful. It was great to receive something that did not remind me of the traditional Valentine's Red roses, and as much as I like red roses I am more a white, yellow or pink roses gal.

Please ignore my old fashioned TV and admire
the beautiful bouquet. I do (wide grin!).

All in all I cannot say anything bad about Bunches. I love that they are a family run company still; I love that they have many of their workers working for them who have been with them a long time and I love that they saw an opening in the market for boxed flowers and were the first company to add chocolates with flowers.

Free Delivery/Free Chocolates & Customer Reward Scheme

They also, on their site, offer free delivery and free chocolates with every on-line order, so to me they are company I would go to when ordering flowers on-line. And Bunches are the only mail order florist which offers a loyalty scheme in the form of  'Posy Points', which enables customers to earn points with every purchase.

So to me, they go the extra mile.

It was great to do this review and introduce you to Quirky Alone Day and a big thanks to for being a willing participant in this alternative day.
