Review: WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Stag Tote Bag & Elephant Mug (Competition Ended)

WWF Seasons Greetings Tiger Rhinoceros
Supporting The WWF At Christmas Is A Really Rewarding Gift To Someone

It breaks my heart when I hear on the news the list of animals nearing extinction, and more recently I was shocked to hear that our beautiful elephants, rhinos and Siberian tigers were added to the list. To me we do not own this planet, we are here to be loving guardians of planet earth. Not here to ruin it or to kill animals into extinction for our own personal needs. So for this review and give-away I introduce an organisation close to my heart - The WWF - World Wildlife Fund for Nature..

If you could give one gift this Christmas, to me you could not give a better gift than adopting a beautiful animal, or joining the WWF. I know that generations to come would appreciate being able to see the animals we adore now in their lifetime. I won't go into the gruesome aspects of what is happening across the world in the poaching trade as it is well documented, but I am sure many of you reading this will now know. What I want to do is share what is so great about the WWF and also the range of products you can buy for Christmas that will support the declining animal populations. We can all buy cute gifts at Christmas, but what better cause for a cute gift than to act as a true guardian of planet earth. Children will love to hear all about their gift and to know they are supporting animals still existing today. I would like to see the elephant, rhino and Siberian tiger around for years to come (along with countless others) instead of in a museum where the next generation bear witness to the loss that can be prevented. I for one want to be part of that, do you?

So who are the WWF?

About the WWF
Starting in 1961 the WWF was well known for its pioneering work to save and protect iconic wildlife like tigers, whales, pandas and rhinos and they have achieved a lot since then. But they do so much more.

Their ultimate goal is:

“people living in harmony with nature”

They want people to respect and value the natural world and find ways to share the earth’s resources fairly. They do this by working a lot with communities, politicians and businesses. They need to work together with these groups because most of the threats to wildlife and habitats come from human pressures and the increasing demand for food, fuel or water.

Challenging themselves to 6 BIG WINS they aim to achieve these and other challenges by 2018.

These include:

 1. Wildlife restored (continued safeguarding of the populations of 10 of the worlds most iconic and threatened species).

2. Forests and oceans sustained (continue to increase the area of forests and oceans effectively managed and protected).

3. Rivers flowing (continue to secure or improve the flow of 4 of the worlds great rivers and also making sure UK rivers are restored).

4. Sustainable timber and seafood traded (To continue to radically change the timber and seafood sectors in the UK).

5. Carbon Emissions reduced (To continue to press for strong climate targets and work with WWF network to reduce carbon emissions in major new economies).

6. Valuing nature (Ensure that the true values of nature is reflected in political and economic decision-making in their priority places).

For day 6 of my '12 days of Christmas review and give-away' bonanza the WWF were kind to donate a beautiful stag tote bag and an absolutely hand-warming cosy elephant mug, perfect for wrapping your hands around on a cold winter's night.

The great thing about all the products you buy from the WWF shop is that you are not just getting great quality products, but that your money goes into helping fund the WWF in their amazing campaigns to protect and nurture this planet and the creatures we are here to be guardians of.

Porcelain Snuggle Mug (£7.94)

WWF Elephant Snuggle Mug
This is perfect for cold winter nights, warms the hands up lovely!

What attracted me to this mug straight away was the shape. Most mugs you buy are a certain shape, but this is so hand shaped and really is a snuggle mug. I love to sit on the sofa with a blanket, a hot chocolate and watch my favourite tv program or read a book with this mug. The well known WWF logo of the panda is neatly positioned inside the top of the mug and on the outside a lovely elephant family reminding me of what I am supporting with this mug, keeping elephants on this beautiful planet.

It is a good weight and feels hard-wearing. A perfect gift for a coffee, tea or warm drink lover who also likes to support the WWF and would love to know that the purchase went to support a good cause. It may look small but it holds as much coffee or tea as my large mug I normally use, this totally surprised me, but its wider base makes up the size.

Tote bag deer (£12.95)

Stag Deer Tote Bag from WWF

I love this cotton tote bag, it has come in so handy since I received it for review. I have taken it everywhere as it folds up into my handbag and is a really good size. With strong handles, and beautiful deer design, it is not only practical but very fashionable and in season. My sister who is a lot younger than me, admired this bag when I was catching up with her in my recent trip to York. I also popped this bag in the outer section of my suitcase when travelling to and from the airport and it was perfect for popping my heavy winter coat in for going through security so that I didn't have to be weighed down with warm clothing.
