Does Getting What You ‘Really’ Want Have Consequences?

Last night I had the strangest dream, but it had a very deep message for me and something to further ponder on with regards to getting what we want. Many teachings on-line speak of the famous ‘Law Of Attraction’ and ‘Creating Your Reality’. They say ‘if you want it, you can have it’. Now maybe this is true, maybe it is not, but my dream showed me something that really has me thinking.

I was walking out of the door from a house, and this strange furry (but cute) creature was jumping all over me and literally leapt into my chest – yes, inside my body. At some stage in the dream I was talking to someone who had had exactly the same thing happen and I noticed she could have anything she wanted. It was a bit like that series ‘Bewitched’, where Samantha wiggles her nose and makes things disappear, or magically change form, cleans her home etc.. It’s one of those gifts I am sure many people wish they secretly had. I asked her to show me what she can do, and she changed the colour of my boots to pink and grey, and in the dream I decided I preferred them the natural brown colour. I experimented with the new gift and I wiggled my finger at the sky and stopped a bird in mid-flight. It was frozen in mid-air. I then wiggled my finger again and it continued flying. I saw that the clouds were over the moon and thought I would like to see the moon, so I wiggled the clouds away. Something began to disturb me inside; this felt wrong so I asked her were there any consequences with having this gift, she said ‘Oh nooo… well… only addiction’. And in that instant I stopped. And decided I would maybe do it occasionally but not all the time.

So, this morning I woke up and pondered the dream. They say the ripple effects of a butterfly’s wings can affect a country thousands of miles away, but does this go much further?

Does Waving A Magic Finger Really Help You?

If you have ever watched movies on time travel, they speak about how changing the past can affect the future, and how it can cause a tear in space-time continuum. What if having what we want, when we want it, has the same affect?

If I were able to move the clouds away from the sun because I wanted a sunny day, perhaps a farmer in my area needed the rain for his crops, or perhaps someone is feeling sad and the rain is helping them move through some difficulty?

What if I won a widescreen TV by wiggling my magic finger, but a person who was ready and it was time for them, missed out on that TV because I used my magic to get what I wanted? Am I meddling also in the space-time continuum?

We All Have Dreams and Longings…

We all have dreams, heart longings and we love to receive and experience those things that bring us joy, but what if allowing nature and life to naturally bring us what we are meant to have, is far more balanced than trying to ‘affect’ or ‘control’ outer circumstances?

I don’t feel we can affect outer circumstances. I feel we can make peace with our inner world and the outer naturally shifts and changes – but not necessarily in the way we want it to – we don’t necessarily get to move the clouds from the sun, but we get and have an experience that we need at the time.

So, the next time you’re writing that goal, that list of intentions; the next time you’re sitting visualising and imagining yourself having them, ask yourself ‘Are they really what I need?’

What is behind the want? Is it security? Peace? Love? And perhaps what you may need to take a look at, is discovering these feelings from within you first and let the outer world take care of itself.

Do you really want to be ‘Samantha’ wiggling your nose to magically manifest what you want?

Or do you want to be ‘you’ naturally working with the balance of life and receiving what you need for your highest good?

The paragraph that starts 'I don't feel we can affect outer circumstances' sums it up well for me. Sure, there are things we can do, but things still come when they are meant to. If we did have all that we wanted straight away, our lives probably wouldn't be much if any better 🙂

Very true, because what we think we want is not always what we need to bring a sense of contentment or wellbeing.
